About SPIRES-HEP |
The SPIRES HEP System is a collection of over 375,000 high-energy physics related articles, including journal papers, preprints, e-prints, technical reports, conference papers and theses. This includes all preprint and report holdings received by the SLAC and/or DESY libraries since 1962 (for SLAC) and 1969 (for DESY).
This project was started in 1974 by the SLAC Library and the DESY Library with input from the CERN Library, the Fermilib Library, the KEK Library, the Yukawa Institute at Kyoto University Library, the IHEP Library and the University of Durham Physics Department.
The SPIRES-HEP System, in addition to its home here at SLAC, is run on mirror sites located at DESY, the Yukawa Institute at Kyoto University, and at the University of Durham. The mirror site locations are kept up to date by nightly updates to their databases and system.
HEP is updated daily with new preprints and eprints received in the SLAC library and with new journal articles and conference proceedings papers indexed at the DESY Library. Input is also received from CERN, Fermilab, KEK, Yukawa Inst., IHEP and ITEP.
A poster and MICRO-MINIGUIDE to SPIRES searching are available in the SLAC Library. QSPIRES searching is described in the GUIDE TO QSPIRES report. This extensive publication (220 pages) is available free of charge from the SLAC's Publication Department. To obtain it, send your complete regular mail address to TECHPUB@SLAC.STANFORD.EDU, and request a copy of the SLAC-393 Report.
We are happy to answer questions about using the HEP databases. Either send email to library@slac.stanford.edu, or you may phone Heath O'Connell, (650) 926-3426.
