Note:Random Matrices are one of the major research areas in modern probability theory, due to their prominence in many different fields such as nuclear physics, statistics, telecommunication, free probability, non-commutative geometry,and dynamical system s. Note:The eigenvalue problems for quasilinear and nonlinear operators present many differences with the linear case, and a Lyapunov inequality for quasilinear resonant systems showed the existence of eigenvalue asymptotics driven bythe coupling of the equa tions instead of the order of the equations. For p=2, the coupling and the order of the equations are the same, so this cannot happen in linear problems. Another striking difference between linear andquasilinear second order differential operators is the existence of Lyapunov-type inequalities in R^n when p>n. Since the linear case corresponds to p=2, for the usual Laplacian there exists a Lyapunov inequality only forone-dimensional problems. For linear higher order problems, several Lyapunov-type inequal ities were found by Egorov and Kondratiev and collected in On spectral theory of elliptic operators, Birkhauser Basel 1996. However, there existsan interesting interplay between the dimension of the underlying space, the order of the differential operator , the Sobolev space where the operator is defined, and the norm of the weight appearing in the inequality which is not fullydeveloped. Also, the Lyapunov inequality for differential equations in Orlicz spaces can be used to develop an oscillation theory, bypassing the classical sturmian theory which is not known yet for those equations. For more generaloperators, like the p(x) laplacian, the possibility of existence of Lyapunov-type inequalities remains unexplored.

Note:This book presents a geometric theory of complex analytic integrals representing hypergeometric functions of several variables. Starting from an integrand which is a product of powers of polynomials, integrals are explained, inan open affine space, a s a pair of twisted de Rham cohomology and its dual over the coefficients of local system. It is shown that hypergeometric integrals generally satisfy a holonomic system of linear differential equations withrespect to the coefficients of polynomials and a lso satisfy a holonomic system of linear difference equations with respect to the exponents. Note:Difference equations are models of the world around us. From clocks to computers to chromosomes, processing discrete objects in discrete steps is a common theme. Difference equations arise naturally from such discretedescriptions and allow us to pose and answer such questions as: How much? How many? How long? Difference equations are a necessary part of the mathematical repertoire of all modern scientists and engineers. In this new text, designedfor sophomores studying mathematics and computer scienc e, the authors cover the basics of difference equations and some of their applications in computing and in population biology. Each chapter leads to techniques that can be appliedby hand to small examples or programmed for larger problems. Along the way, the reader will use linear algebra and graph theory, develop formal power series, solve combinatorial problems, visit PerronFrobenius theory, discusspseudorandom number generation and integer factorization, and apply the Fast Fourier Transform to multiply polynomials quickly. The book contains many worked examples and over 250 exercises. While these exercises are accessible tostudents and have been class-tested, they also suggest further problems and possible research topics.
