Title: | Introduction to the Qualitative Theory of Differential Systems [electronic resource] : Planar, Symmetric and Continuous Piecewise Linear Systems |
Author(s): |
Jaume Llibre Antonio E Teruel |
Date: | 2014 |
Publisher: | Basel : Springer Basel : Imprint: Springer |
Size: | 1 online resource |
Note: | The book deals with continuous piecewise linear differential systems in the plane with three pieces separated by a pair of parallel straight lines. These differential systems are symmetric with respect to the origin ofcoordinates. This class of syste ms, driven by concrete applications, is of interest in engineering, in particular in control theory and the design of electric circuits. By studying these particular differential systems, we willintroduce the basic tools of the qualitative theory of ordin ary differential equations, which allow us to describe the global dynamics of these systems including the dynamics at infinity. The behavior of their solutions, theirparametric stability or instability and their bifurcations are described. The book is hig hly suitable for a first course in the qualitative theory of differential equations or dynamical systems, particularly for engineers, mathematicians, and physicists |

Title: | Energy-Aware System Design [electronic resource] : Algorithms and Architectures |

Note: | Springer 2013 e-book collections |
Note: | Power consumption becomes the most important design goal in a wide range of electronic systems. There are two driving forces towards this trend: continuing device scaling and ever increasing demand of higher computing power.First, device scaling cont inues to satisfy Moores law via a conventional way of scaling (More Moore) and a new way of exploiting the vertical integration (More than Moore). Second, mobile and IT convergence requires more computingpower on the silicon chip than ever. Cell phones ar e now evolving towards mobile PC. PCs and data centers are becoming commodities in house and a must in industry. Both supply enabled by device scaling and demand triggered by theconvergence trend realize more computation on chip (via multi-core, integrati on of diverse functionalities on mobile SoCs, etc.) and finally more power consumption incurring power-related issues and constraints. Energy-Aware SystemDesign: Algorithms and Architectures provides state-of-the-art ideas for low power design methods fro m circuit, architecture to software level andoffers design case studies in three fast growing areas of mobile storage, biomedicaland security. Important topics and features: - Describes very recent advanced issues and methods for energy-aware design at ea ch design level from circuit andarchitecture toalgorithm level, and also covering important blocksincluding low power main memory subsystem and on-chip network at architecture level - Explains efficient power conversion and delivery which is becoming impo rtant as heterogeneous power sources are adopted for digital and non-digitalparts - Investigates 3D die stacking emphasizing temperature awareness for better perspective on energy efficiency - Presents three practical energy-aware design case studies nove l storage device (e.g., solid state disk), biomedicalelectronics (e.g., cochlear and retina implants), and wireless surveillance camera systems. Title: | Introduction to Stochastic Integration [electronic resource] |
Author(s): |
Hui-Hsiung Kuo |
Date: | 2006 |
Publisher: | New York, NY : Springer New York |
Size: | 1 online resource |
Note: | Springer e-book platform |

Note: | The theory of stochastic integration, also called the Ito calculus, has a large spectrum of applications in virtually every scientific area involving random functions, but it can be a very difficult subject for people withoutmuch mathematical backgro und. The Ito calculus was originally motivated by the construction of Markov diffusion processes from infinitesimal generators. Previously, the construction of such processes required several steps, whereas Itoconstructed these diffusion processes directl y in a single step as the solutions of stochastic integral equations associated with the infinitesimal generators. Moreover, the properties of these diffusion processes can be derived fromthe stochastic integral equations and the Ito formula. This introdu ctory textbook on stochastic integration provides a concise introduction to the Ito calculus, and covers the following topics: * Constructions of Brownian motion *Stochastic integrals for Brownian motion and martingales * The Ito formula * Multiple Wiener -Ito integrals * Stochastic differential equations * Applications to finance, filtering theory, and electric circuits. The reader shouldhave a background in advanced calculus and elementary probability theory, as well as a basic knowledge of measure theor y and Hilbert spaces. Each chapter ends with a variety of exercises designed to help the reader further understandthe material. Hui-Hsiung Kuo is the Nicholson Professor of Mathematics at Louisiana State University. He has delivered lectures on stochastic integration at Louisiana State University, Cheng Kung University, Meijo University, andUniversity of Rome Tor Vergata, among others. He is also the author of Gaussian Measures in Banach Spaces (Springer 1975), and White Noise Distribution Theory (CRC Pre ss 1996), and a memoir of his childhood growing up in Taiwan, AnArrow Shot into the Sun (Abridge Books 2004) |
