Note:Hydrodynamic equations well describe averaged parameters of turbulent steady flows, at least in pipes where boundary conditions can be estimated. The equations might outline the parameters fluctuations as well, if entry conditionsat current boundarie s were known. This raises, in addition, the more comprehensive problem of the primary perturbation nature, noted by H.A. Lorentz, which still remains unsolved. Generally, any flow steadiness should be supported bypressure waves emitted by some external so urce, e.g. a piston or a receiver. The wave plane front in channels quickly takes convex configuration owing to Rayleigh's law of diffraction divergence. The Schlieren technique and pressurewave registration were employed to investigate the wave interacti on with boundary layer, while reflecting from the channel wall. The reflection induces boundary-layer local separation and following pressure rapid increase within theperturbation zone. It propagates as an acoustic wave packet of spherical shape, bearing oscillations of hydrodynamic parameters. Superposition of such packets forms a spatio-temporal field of oscillations fading as 1/r. This implies amechanism of the turbulence. Vorticity existing in the boundary layer does not penetrate in itself into poten tial main stream. But the wave leaving the boundary layer carries away some part of fluid along with frozen-in vorticity. Thevorticity eddies form another field of oscillations fading as 1/r2. This implies a second mechanism of turbulence. Thereupon the o scillation spatio-temporal field and its randomization development are easy computed. Also, normalburning transition into detonation is explained, and the turbulence inverse problem is set and solved as applied to plasma channels created by laser Besselia n beams

Note:This course-based monograph introduces the reader to the theory of continuous measurements in quantum mechanics and provides some benchmark applications. The approach chosen, quantum trajectory theory, is based on the stochasticSchrdinger and master equations, which determine the evolution of the a-posteriori state of a continuously observed quantum system and give the distribution of the measurement output. The present introduction is restricted tofinite-dimensional quantum systems and diffusive out puts. Two appendices introduce the tools of probability theory and quantum measurement theory which are needed for the theoretical developments in the first part of the book. First,the basic equations of quantum trajectory theory are introduced, with all their mathematical properties, starting from the existence and uniqueness of their solutions. This makes the text also suitable for other applications of thesame stochastic differential equations in different fields such as simulations of master equations or dynamical reduction theories. In the next step the equivalence between the stochastic approach and the theory of continuousmeasurements is demonstrated. To conclude the theoretical exposition, the properties of the output of the continuous measurement are analyzed in detail. This is a stochastic process with its own distribution, and the reader will learnhow to compute physical quantities such as its moments and its spectrum. In particular this last concept is introduced with clear and explicit refere nce to the measurement process. The two-level atom is used as the basic prototype toillustrate the theory in a concrete application. Quantum phenomena appearing in the spectrum of the fluorescence light, such as Mollows triplet structure, squeezing of the fluorescence light, and the linewidth narrowing, arepresented. Last but not least, the theory of quantum continuous measurements is the natural starting point to develop a feedback control theory
