Title:Multicriteria Analysis [electronic resource] : Applications to Water and Environment Management
Author(s): Mahdi Zarghami
Ferenc Szidarovszky
Date:2011
Publisher:Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg : Imprint: Springer
Size:1 online resource
Note:Springer e-book platform
Note:Springer 2013 e-book collections
Note:Multicriteria analysis is one of the most important fields of decision science. This book gives an outline of the formulation of an appropriate model and presents a comprehensive summary of the most popular methods for solvingmulticriteria decision p roblems. In addition to the classical approach the book introduces fuzzy and stochastic methodology, models with uncertainty, social choice and conflict resolution. All methods are illustrated with easy tofollow simple examples. At the end of each chapter detailed case studies are given in water and environment management including inter-basin water transfer, urban water management, water allocation, groundwater quality management, forest treatment, ranking water resources projects, reservoir planning, wat er distribution network design and long-term watershed management. The new methodology and the wide variety of case studies are not easily accessibleelsewhere

Title:Forecasting with Exponential Smoothing [electronic resource] : The State Space Approach
Author(s): Rob Hyndman
Anne Koehler
Keith Ord
Ralph Snyder
Date:2008
Publisher:Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg
Size:1 online resource
Note:Springer e-book platform
Note:Springer 2013 e-book collections
Note:Exponential smoothing methods have been around since the 1950s, and are the most popular forecasting methods used in business and industry. Recently, exponential smoothing has been revolutionized with the introduction of acomplete modeling framework incorporating innovations state space models, likelihood calculation, prediction intervals and procedures for model selection. In this book, all of the important results for this framework are broughttogether in a coherent manner with consistent notation. In addition, many new results and extensions are introduced and several application areas are examined in detail. Rob J. Hyndman is a Professor of Statistics and Director of theBusiness and Economic Forecasting Unit at Monash University, Australia. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Forecasting, author of over 100 research papers in statistical science, and received the 2007 Moran medalfrom the Australian Academy of Science for his contributions to statistical research. Anne B. Koehler is a Professor of Decision Sciences and the Panuska Professor of Business Administration at Miami University, Ohio. She has numerouspublications, many of which are on forecasting models for seasonal time series and exponential smoothing methods. J.Keith Ord is a Professor in the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, Washington DC. He has authoredover 100 research papers in statistics and its applications and ten books including Kendall's Advanced Theory of Statistics. Ralph D. Snyder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at MonashUniversity, Australia. He has extensive publications on business forecasting and inventory management. He has played a leading role in the establishment of the class o f innovations state space models for exponential smoothing
